About Shankweiler's Drive-in
Shankweiler's Drive-in is America's oldest operating drive-in. It opened in 1934 and at the time was only the second drive-in to open in America. Shankweiler's is a single screen drive-in located in Orefield, PA which is a small town located about 15 minutes outside of Allentown, PA near the New Jersey border. Shankweiler's has changed owners a number of times, but it has never been closed a season. If planning to visit, plan to arrive early (the box office opens 2 1/2 hours before Showtime) as this drive-in parks less than 300 cars and often fills up early, especially on the weekends. Pets are allowed as long as they are leashed and well behaved. It is now open year round.
