About Newark Moonlight Cinema
The Newark Moonlight Cinema is a two screen drive-in movie theater located in Newark, New Jersey. The drive-in is owned and managed by a husband and wife team. It was originally opened in 2020 in response to Covid-19 lockdowns which had shuttered all indoor theaters and other entertainment venues. The Newark Moonlight Cinema at the time was located in a different location and was only a temporary, pop-up drive-in. However, the drive-in did so well, that they decided to move to a permanent location and add permanent screens and a concession area. The twin screens were constructed from cargo containers as was the concession area. Currently, the Newark Moonlight Cinema plans to operate from Spring through Fall and shows both classic movies and first run movies on the weekends. Current admission is $13 for adults, $9 for kids with kids 3 and under free. Outside food and drink is not allowed and the Newark Moonlight Cinema does not allow pets. Movie audio is broadcast over 97.5 FM and 98.5 FM channels.
