About Moon Lite Drive-In Theater
The Moon Lite Drive is a new drive-in which opened on September 22, 2018. Even though the Moon Lite Drive-in was opened in 2018, it is not being built new from the ground up. The Moon Lite is actually a refurbishment of the old Terre Haute Drive-in which was first opened in 1958 but was eventually closed in 1988. It sat unattended from 1988 until 2017 when it was purchased by the KJB Theater chain which owns several theaters including another drive-in (the Starlight Drive-in in Bloomington, IN). KJB Theaters refurbished the original 40' x 80' screen but built a new concession, projection and box office buildings. The Moon Lite is a single screen drive-in which can hold about 700 cars. It is open seasonally from about Valentine's Day to Christmas. Current admission is $9 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12 years of age and kids 5 and under being free. Outside food is allowed but discouraged as the Moon Lite Drive-in has a wonderful concession area. Pets are allowed as long as they are leashed, well behaved and cleaned up after.
