About Georgetown Drive-in
Originally opened as a single screen drive-in theater in 1951, the Georgetown Drive-in is now a two screener showing double features on both screens (and sometimes 3 movies per screen) while seasonally open. While they have moved to FM broadcasting, they still have traditional window speakers for those who want the old time drive-in experience. They are one of the few drive-ins that still have a playground for small kids. If you want to go on the weekends, get there early as they always fill up and have to turn away patrons many weekend nights. While located in rural Georgetown, IN, the theater is only a 20 minute drive from Louisville, KY. On a personal note, this is one of our favorite drive-ins because it is located on a hillside. So like tiered indoor theaters, every row is higher than the row in front of it providing excellent viewing from all rows. For this reason, you will see many SUV's there with their hatches open which is not allowed at many other drive-in theaters.
