** UPDATE - In May of 2022, the owner of the Highway 27 Drive-in announced on the drive-in's Facebook page that the drive-in would not open in 2022. No reason was given. As far as we know, the drive-in has not been sold and there are no current plans to demolish it so we hope it can open in the future. However, at this time we are moving this drive-in into the "Closed" category. We will update this page when we learn more. **
The Highway 27 Drive-in is a twin screen drive-in movie theater located in Somerset, Kentucky which is the eastern part of the state. The Highway 27 Drive-in came late to the party opening in 1967. They are located in Somerset, Kentucky which is not far from Cumberland Lake which is a huge tourist draw in the summer months. Originally opened as a single screen drive-in, the Highway 27 Drive-in added a second screen in the 1980's. Be aware that they do not allow outside food or drink so bring some extra cash for the concession stand. They also do not allow pets to be brought into the drive-in. The Highway 27 Drive-in has grass between the rows which makes it nice for sitting outside your vehicle. They also still have the original speakers stands as well as broadcast on FM Radio.
