About Sunset Drive-in

The Sunset Drive-in was a single screen drive-in movie theater located in Mansfield, Ohio. It was opened in 1947 and operated until closing in 2013. Many drive-ins closed in 2013 as the movie industry switched to digital projection and many drive-ins could not afford to purchase digital projectors so they simply closed. In 2018, new owners purchased the Sunset Drive-in and planned to re-open it hopefully late summer 2018. They painted the screen and purchased a digital projector and continued with other repairs of the concession building and other parts of the grounds. But in 2020, the owner of the land on which the drive-in sits was sold to a barn salvage company and plans for the drive-in to re-open were scraped.
