About The Badlands Drive-in
The Badlands Drive-in is a single screen drive-in movie theater located in Los Lunas, NM which is about a 30 minute drive south of Albuquerque, NM. The Badlands Drive-in was constructed and is operated by The Villages of Los Lunas Recreation Division. So the drive-in is owned and operated by the local government. It was constructed in 2020 on the site of the city's old BMX bike track as has a car capacity of about 100 cars. This is a permanent drive-in movie theater with a large permanent screen with digital projection. While construction of The Badlands Drive-in was completed in December of 2020, they were not able to open because their county was still under strict Covid-19 pandemic restrictions which did not allow them to operate. But the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted eventually and the Badlands Drive-in opened the first weekend of February 2021. Currently, you can buy tickets in advance online. Admission is $15 per carload. You are allowed to bring in your own food and drink, but no alcohol is permitted on the property. Also, the Badlands Drive-in does not allow you to bring pets so leave them at home. And they also specifically prohibit UTVs/ATVs...so I guess that is an issue in their area...we have to admit that is the first time we have seen a drive-in have to specifically prohibit ATVs.
