About 66 Drive-in
Originally opened in the early days of America's postwar drive-in boom in 1949, the 66 Drive-in went dark and closed after the boom went bust like it did for so many other drive-ins. But the story of the 66 Drive-in did not end there. In one of the most ambitious efforts of the dozens that have succeeded in resurrecting abandoned drive-ins (one that involved excavation even more than restoration), the old 66 Drive-in was brought back to life and re-opened in 1997. Now open seasonally, they show double features with audio provided by FM radio. The 66 Drive-in still has a playground for the kids to enjoy before the movies. And they only accept cash so leave the credit cards at home. The 66 Drive-in is listed on the National Register of Historical Places so it is definitely worth a visit.
