About Ceres Twin Drive-in
The Ceres Drive-in was a twin screen drive-in theater located in Ceres, California. Originally opened in 1947 as a single screen drive-in, at some point they added a second screen to become a twin screen drive-in. The Ceres Drive-in operated until it was closed in 2008. After closing, the drive-in was used for a flea market on the weekends. During that time, one of the two screens was destroyed but one screen remained standing. But in September of 2020, the age of Covid restrictions, local resident Mark Stotzer announced he was re-opening the Ceres Drive-in with the original screen and name. The first night of the re-opening was September 25, 2020. The Ceres Drive-in showed movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The Ceres Drive-in opened with a new, digital projector which showed movies on its large 100' screen. However, in July of 2021, the owner of the drive-in announced on Facebook that they were closing down. The owner stating the drive-in was successful, but that patrons were rude to the staff and it was no longer fun to operate the drive-in in that environment. The drive-in has now been turned into a "paved parking area for RVs" according to the drive-in's still operating Facebook page.
