** Update as of April 2022: The owners of the Bangor Drive-in announced they were not going to open for the 2022 season and would remain closed indefinitely for now until they can decide the future of the Bangor Drive-in. The owners cited the pandemic, lack of new movies and movies being released straight to streaming as part of the reason for their closure. We are moving this drive-in to a 'Closed' status but will update this page when future plans for the Bangor Drive-in are made know. **
The Bangor Drive-in of Bangor, Maine was originally opened in 1950 as a single screen drive-in theater. A second screen was added in 1978 making it a twin screen drive-in. But the Bangor Drive-in eventually closed in 1985. However, after 30 years of sitting dark, the Bangor Drive-in was refurbished and re-opened in 2015 and continues to operate as a twin screen drive-in today. They are open seasonally from the Spring thru Fall and show double features 5 nights a week as they are closed on Monday and Tuesday nights. The Bangor Drive-in only accepts cash at the box office so please ensure you bring cash to get in. They do accept credit cards at the concession area. And they allow pets as long as they are leashed and well behaved.
