About Wes-Mer Drive-in
The WesMer Drive-in is a single screen drive-in movie theater located in Mercedes, Texas which is the far southwestern part of the state close to Brownsville, Texas and the border with Mexico. Originally opening in the early 1950's, the Wes-Mer was snuffed out during the thinning of the drive-ins and went dark in 1984. Ten years it laid idle but it was eventually restored and re-opened in 1994 by new owners who continue to operate it. The Wes-Mer is open nightly and year round. It is a great bargain at $10 per carload and $5 per var on Tuesdays. But be aware that they only accept cash so leave the credit cards at home. Alcohol is not allowed. Movie audio is broadcast on 104.7 FM.
