About Redland's Drive-in Theatre
The Redland's Drive-in Theatre is a proposed single screen drive-in theater to be opened in Lufkin, Texas. Actually, the Redland's Drive-in will be the resurrection of a long dead drive-in. Originally built in about 1950, the Redland's Drive-in entertained folks for many years until it was closed in the mid to late 1980's. It sat vacant for over 30 years but the screen was never torn down. Now in February of 2021, Andrew Thomas announced he plans to re-open the drive-in. Andrew Thomas also owns the Showboat Drive-in in Houston, Texas and is therefore experienced and up to the task of bringing this former drive-in back to life. Mr. Thomas said he plans to keep the original lot and screen but bring modern technological updates to the new drive-in. He hopes to open the Redland's Drive-in Memorial Day weekend of 2021.
