About Monetta Drive-in Theatre
The Monetta Drive-in is a three screen drive-in theater located in Monetta, South Carolina. Nicknamed "The Big Mo', the Monetta Drive-in was opened on April 26th, 1951. The Monetta Drive-in operated from 1951 until it closed in 1986. It sat dark for 13 years but was then resurrected and re-opened in 1999 by husband and wife team Lisa and Richard Boaz. The revived Monetta Drive-in boast three movie screens and is now open weekends only (occasionally on Thursday). The drive-in is open seasonally from March thru September. They allow pets at the Monetta Drive-in but only take cash at the gate so bring the dog and plenty of cash to get in. They have a play area for the kids at the Monetta Drive-in which gives them something to do before the movie starts as many people get their two hours before movie time during busy times of the summer. The Monetta Drive-in uses digital projection and FM sound and show first run movies.
