About Highway 2 Drive-in
The Highway 2 Community Drive In Theater is a single screen drive-in theater located in Manistique, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. It was originally opened in 1953 but closed in 2001. However, since then, it was acquired by the Upper Peninsula Film Union which is a non-profit. They do not operate the drive-in every weekend but instead host several drive-in movie events each summer and early fall. The Highway 2 Community Drive In Theater allows local nonprofits to operate the concession stand during these events to help them with their fundraising efforts. And while the Highway 2 Community Drive In Theater does not ban outside food or require a food permit, they do heavily discourage bringing in outside food since the purpose of the drive-in is to support local non-profits through concession sales. The Highway 2 Community Drive In Theater is one of only a handful of drive-ins that are run as non-profits. You check their Facebook page to see when and what movies they are showing. Admission to the movie events is always free thanks to generous sponsors who pay for movie licensing. Pets are allowed but discouraged.
