About McHenry Indoor/Outdoor Theater
Originally opened in 1951 as the Skyline Drive-in, the now named McHenry Outdoor Theater is a single screen drive-in theater located in McHenry, Illinois which is about a one hour drive north of downtown Chicago. It is the Chicago area's last remaining drive-in theater. They show double features seasonally. They have a parking policy to prevent unobstructed views of the screen. Bigger vehicles have to park next to adjacent red poles and smaller cars park next to silver poles. The McHenry Outdoor Theater allows you to bring pets as long as the pets are leashed, well behaved and cleaned up after. In December of 2020, the owner of the McHenry Outdoor Theater announced that he had purchased an additional 10 acres adjacent to his drive-in. He plans to add two additional screens to make the McHenry Outdoor Theater a three screen drive-in theater over the next couple of years.
