About Blue Moonlight Drive-in Theatre
**** Update. The Blue Moonlight Drive-in has not shown any movies since 2020 and they have announced no plans to re-start. They are still operating as a concert venue, but not showing movies. For this reason, we have moved them to the "Closed" status. If they start showing movies again, we will update this page and move them back to "Open" status. **** The Blue Moonlight Drive-in is a single screen drive-in located in Galesburg, IL. The Blue Moonlight Drive-in Theatre was originally opened in 1949. It was originally named the Galesburg Drive-In when opened. It operated until it was closed sometime in the 1980's. But the drive-in was re-opened in 2005 and renamed the Blue Moonlight Drive-in. When it re-opened in 2005, it showed first run movies. However, since that time, the drive-in switched to showing second run movies because they never switched to digital projection. Because they only show second run movies on weekends only, admission to the Blue Moonlight Drive-in Theatre is free but you are not allowed to bring in any outside food or drink because all revenue is generated from the concession stand. Unfortunately, the Blue Moonlight Drive-in has not been showing movies in 2020 and the future of the drive-in is uncertain. There have been no announcements that the drive-in is closing, but also no announcements on when it might start showing movies again.
