About West Wind Santa Barbara Drive-in
The West Wind Santa Barbara Drive-in was a single screen drive-in theater located in Goleta, California. It was another successful rebirth of an abandoned drive-in. Originally opened in 1966 as the Santa Barbara Twin Drive-in, it was closed in 1991 and sat dark for almost 20 years until it was re-opened by the West Wind Drive-in chain in 2010. They remained open year round until they closed again in April of 2019. No reason was given for the closure but they held a customer appreciation event and said the closure was permanent. However, when interest in drive-ins spiked because of Covid-19 restrictions in the Summer of 2020, the West Wind chain announced they were re-opening the drive-in and it did in fact re-open Memorial Day weekend. However, the drive-in then closed permanently in September.
