Hawaii Drive-in Theaters

Hawaii has no permanent drive-ins currently operating in the state. This is not a surprise given the lack available land in Hawaii. But it is a shame given the year round warm and pleasant weather in the Hawaiian Islands that would allow drive-ins to operate comfortably all year round. Hawaii's first drive-in opened in 1949 in Honolulu on the island of O'ahu There were a handful of drive-ins on the islands in the past but the last one closed in 1998. There are temporary drive-ins that pop-up and show second run movies from time to time.
