About Lunar Drive-In Theater
Opened in 1956 and later expanded, the Lunar Drive-in is now the largest drive-in in Australia. The Lunar Drive-in is located in Dandenong, Victoria, Australia which is just outside of Melbourne, Australia. The Lunar Drive-in was originally opened as the Dandenong Panoramic Drive-In and operated for almost 30 years until it was closed in 1984. It sat dark for almost 20 years until it was rebuilt and re-opened in 2002 as the Lunar Drive-in. It is open year round on every night of the year except for Christmas. They allow dogs as long as they are leashed and well behaved. The Lunar Drive-in also allows you to bring in outside food and drink. However, they have an excellent restaurant on site that serves reasonably priced and delicious food.
