About Mainline Drive-In
Opened in 1956, the Mainline Drive-in was one of only two drive-ins still operating in South Australia until it closed in February of 2022. It was operated by the Wallis theater chain. They also held a Treasure Market on the drive-in grounds on Sundays. The Mainline Drive-in was open year round and showed first run, double features on its large screen. The Wallis family who operated the drive-in (along with indoor theaters) stated that they made the difficult decision to close the drive-in due to all the hardships created by the Covid-19 pandemic. News is that the land is to be developed so it does not appear there is any change this drive-in will re-open.
