About Kam Drive-in
The Kam Drive-in was a twin screen drive-in movie theater located in Aiea, Hawaii which is just a short 10 minute drive-in north of Honolulu. Originally opened as a single screen drive-in in 1962, the Kam Drive-in added a second screen sometime in the 1970's making it a twin drive-in theater. Originally the Kam Drive-in was openly every night of the week year round. But with drive-ins in decline in the 1990's, attendance at the Kam Drive-in slowly declined and the operators of the drive-in reduced showings to weekends and holidays only. Then in 1998 the Kam Drive-in permanently closed and in 2001 the two screens were demolished. The property has since been developed. We believe the Kam Drive-in was the last permanent drive-in to operate in the state of Hawaii. Since its closures, there have been no operating drive-in theaters in Hawaii. The property has since been developed.
